BORACAY ISLAND–Officials of the Boracay Manoc-manoc Elementary School here cut short its afternoon class today after students and teachers felt dizzy, vomited, and fainted over a “toxic stench” apparently leaking from the site where Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) is located.

Reports have it that school officials immediately ordered the suspension at 4:16pm today when the students can no longer bear the foul smell and start to feel dizziness and abdominal pain, while some experienced bouts of diarrhea at some point.

Reports even said that some teachers almost fainted as if they were choking on air.

It was not immediately known if some of the victims have been hospitalized but school officials decided to cut the class short after the stench has become so strong to the point that some students vomited in the process.

The odor, according to residents in the area, have been an on-and-off phenomenon within the Bantud area of Brgy. Manoc-nanoc, which is a stone’s throw away from the MRF site of the said barangay.
