BORACAY ISLAND—Fears amplified in this resort island after a Chinese couple who spent their vacation here were put under quarantine upon arrival at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport yesterday.

Reports said the couple arrived at the NAIA Terminal 4 yesterday afternoon on board Air Asia flight Z2712 via Kalibo International Airport after their vacation in Boracay.

Upon arrival, the two, who were both with high fever, had asked airport authorities to be checked at the Manila International Airport Authority Medical Clinic but due to the couple’s travel history wherein they could have been infected by the deadly virus they were then brought to the Bureau of Quarantine at the NAIA Terminal 3 for proper quarantine.

As this develops, the Boracay Foundation Incorporated has scheduled an “emergency forum” at 10:00am tomorrow (Feb. 1) at the 2nd floor of City Mall-Boracay.

Edwin Raymundo and Dionisio Salme, BFI president and chairman, respectively, said the forum will discuss proper information and proper awareness about the disease to avoid speculations.

“In additional to that, we will also have our Safety and Security presentation for everyone’s awareness,” they announced.
