SOME concerned residents in Boracay wrote a letter to the Boracay Inter-Agency Task Force to ensure the safety of the public amid the ongoing road rehabilitation in the resort island.

The residents, in a two-page letter, said they appreciate the ongoing road rehabilitation, but stressed that it lacks necessary warning signs.

The task force is headed by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources. Its attached agencies include the Department of Public Works and Highways, Department of the Interior and Local Government, and Department of Tourism, among others.

“We love the completed roads and are happy with the sidewalks. However, more than half of the roads are incomplete with multiple holes from jackhammers, and 2xm culvert holes in preparation for renovation and drainage,” the letter read.

“There have been multiple incidents where people (and tourists) have gotten injured while walking, with motorbikes falling, flat tires and e-trikes stuck in deep puddles of water. Road renovations that started more than a year ago are until now standing still, with no signs of progression,” the it added.

The letter was already sent to the offices of the attached agencies of the Boracay Inter-Agency Task Force. (SunStar Philippines)
