ALTAVAS, Aklan –Two suspects were arrested for illegally transporting gasoline via a Boracay-bound vehicle.
A delivery van containing 340 containers of gasoline with 20 liters each was intercepted in a checkpoint operation conducted by members of the Altavas Police Station.
The suspects were identified as Robencio Pioquinto, 23, driver; and Lorenzo Ross Bagallon, 21, both of Dao, Capiz.
The suspects were intercepted around 10:30 p.m. of Monday at Sitio Murayan in Altavas town in Aklan.
PO2 Julius Bendoy of Altavas Police Station said the suspects will be charged with violation of using vehicles for the delivery of petroleum products not registered with the Bureau of Energy Utilization.
The suspects also violated Section 5 of Department of Energy Circular NO. DC 2003-11-010 which states that liquid petroleum products shall not be dispensed from above-ground tanks, portable tanks, tank vehicles, drums, barrels or similar containers, e.g. “bote-bote”, into the fuel tanks of motor vehicles or containers.
