BORACAY ISLAND, Aklan — Boracay’s blood donation activity on May 21 targets at least 350 donors.
The “Bleed for a Cause is an initiative of the Boracay Foundation Incorporated (BFI) in partnership with the Philippine Red Cross-Boracay Malay Chapter.
The blood-letting aims to raise awareness on the importance of blood donation which will benefit patients and tourists in the island needing a blood transfusion, BFI said in a statement.
The activity, which is in line with the 20th anniversary celebration of the BFI, is scheduled from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Sunday and will be held at Henann Lagoon Resort.
Staff and employees of the different BFI-member establishment are expected to join the blood donation drive. Members of the Boracay community are encouraged to join as well.
BFI is composed of over 150 members representing Boracay’s leading establishments including resorts, hotels, restaurants, water sports stations, airlines, banks, island organizations, residents, and expatriates.
The activity is also in support of the blood collection drive of the Local Government Unit in line with National Voluntary Blood Services Program (NVBSP) of the Department of Health.
