The interagency task force for Boracay rehabilitation is eyeing to use the boat stations along the White Beach when the island reopens.
Environment Secretary Roy Cimatu who leads the task force, in a media interview on Thursday said tourists will “have the option to use either Cagban Port or the boat station 1, 2 and 3 along the White Beach for docking.”
Cimatu said it will be allowed starting October 15 during the dry run for the island’s reopening.
He said it will also allow tourists to “experience the old Boracay.”
He said they are still finalizing the final guidelines for the reopening and will be discussed during the interagency task force meeting on September 28.
In the same interview, Cimatu reiterated that only 1,000 rooms will be allowed for occupancy on Oct. 15, followed by another 1,000 the next day.
During the dry run, tourists from Aklan and Panay Island will be allowed to enter the island.
The dry run, according to Cimatu will allow the agency to check the performance of the establishment in terms of their sewerage system and water quality.
Cimatu said at least 50 establishments are already fully compliant and will be allowed to operate during the reopening.
He said the final list of compliant establishments will still come from the Department of Tourism (DOT).
