The Philippine Ports Authority will soon be constructing ramps in Barangay Manocmanoc to be used for cargoes.

Eduardo P. Goles, Division Manager A of the Philippine Ports Authority Panay-Guimaras Port Management Office (PMO) said the construction of three ramps and one backup area in Barangay Manoc-manoc will soon start after the PPA was able to comply with the required documents.

The project with a budget of PhP60 million is funded by the Department of Transportation at PHP60 million. The Panay-Guimaras PMO of PPA was just tasked to implement the project.

Goles said they were able to secure a locational clearance and the environmental compliance certificate only last month.

The PPA official said goods and consumables that will be brought to the island will pass through the ramp.

Aside from goods, garbage and debris being shipped from the island to the mainland will also have to pass through the ramp.

Presently, there is no facility for vessels and barge bringing goods to the island. Instead they only dock at the shoreline. (PNA)
