As part of its contribution to the rehabilitation of the island, the Department of Health (DOH) will donate P5 million for the construction of sanitary toilets for selected beneficiaries in the island.
A representative of the DOH 6 during the Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (RDRRMC) meeting in Boracay said the allocation is for the procurement of toilet bowls and construction of septic tanks for Boracay residents that do not have their own sanitary toilet.
The construction of sanitary toilets and septic tanks is to prevent illegal sewage connection, according to DOH. At least 200 families in the three barangays in Boracay are eyed as recipients of the project.
The DOH is just waiting for the documentary requirement from the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Malay to release the fund. Among the requirements needed is a memorandum of agreement between the DOH and the LGU, and a resolution from the local council giving the authority to the mayor to sign the MOA.
