More establishments affected by the road widening in Boracay have started to demolish their structures, according Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in Region 6. The DPWH meanwhile assured that the debris from the demolished structures are properly dumped in an area identified by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) in Yapak and Manocmanoc.
DPWH Asst. Regional Director Jose Al Fruto, in an interview on Wednesday said they are now coordinating with Aklan Electric Cooperative and the telcom and cable network companies in Boracay to relocate their poles within the road network.
He said the DPWH is targeting to finish the widening of the at least 5.6 kilometer road network in the island within its six months rehabilitation.
