BORACAY ISLAND, Aklan–Another ship of international cruise line company Celebrity Cruises will make its inaugural call in Boracay this coming July 10.
MS SkySea Golden Era is expected to bring more than 2,000 cruise passengers and over 800 crew members, according to Jean Pontero, special operation officer of the Caticlan Jetty Port.
Pontero, in an interview Friday, said the cruise line would bring mostly Chinese passengers.
The cruise line will arrive on the island at 6:00 a.m. and will depart at 2:00 p.m., she added.
To mark its inaugural call in this resort island, an exchange of plaque between the Aklan Provincial Government, Department of Tourism 6, the local government unit of Malay and officials of the luxury line would be conducted on board the ship.
Pontero said the ceremonial welcome including the Ati-atihan dance performance would be offered to the cruise visitors.
From China, the ship will first dock in Manila prior to its Boracay visit.
MS SkySea Golden Era is the 8th cruise line to visit the island this year.
Nine other cruise ships are also scheduled to visit within this year, Pontero added.
Meanwhile, Chinese tourist remains as top visitors of the island, based on the records of the Malay Municipal Tourism Office.
From January to June this year, Boracay already welcomed a total of 174,064 Chinese tourists.
